Carbon Neutral Benefit

In partnership with Offset Alliance, we’re supporting verified CO2 emission reductions on behalf of our member salons

How it works

  • Calculating your emissions

From the day you join Green Circle Salons, we start benchmarking your business’s estimated Scope 2 CO2 emissions (emissions resulting from electricity use). This benchmarking is based on your self reported business size (ft2 / m2) and location, and emissions data published by the United States and Canadian governments.

  • Offsetting your emissions

We offset your business’s estimated Scope 2 CO2 emissions for the calendar year (prorated). This means we fund an equal amount of CO2 emission reductions to offset the calculated emissions on your business’s behalf, through projects that meet the highest global standards for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions.

  • Sharing your climate action

As an active Green Circle Salons member, we provide you with an annual Carbon Neutral Benefit certificate to display at your business–with the amount of verified CO2 emissions reduced on behalf of your business, and details about the carbon offset project where verified CO2 emission reductions were supported.

Total impact to date

Since launching the Carbon Neutral Benefit program, Green Circle Salons has supported the verified reduction of 35,001 metric tonnes CO2 on behalf of member salons. For reference, it would take 578,000+ tree seedlings TEN YEARS to draw down this much CO2! - US EPA

Kornburi wastewater treatment

Thailand

The Kornburi wastewater treatment project in Thailand prevents local air pollution from one of the region's largest cassava starch production facilities. By capturing biogas emitted from cassava processing, and converting it into renewable fuel for energy production, it reduces more than 39,000 metric tonnes of CO2 per year, and creates local jobs.

Salto Pilão hydroelectric power

Brazil

The Salto Pilão project in Brazil is a run-of-river hydroelectric plant lowering the carbon intensity of electricity production in southern regions of the country. By helping to increase the share of renewables as energy demand rises due to economic growth, it reduces more than 290,000 metric tonnes of CO2 per year, and creates local jobs.
