Why we choose to offset
Two-thirds of North American birds are at increasing risk of extinction from global temperature rise, being driven by excess CO2 in the atmosphere.
Nevada is now home to the fastest-warming city in the U.S. (Reno). Red Rock Audubon acknowledges this reality, and is committed to taking verified climate action with Offset Alliance, to offset our CO2 created through chapter activities (e.g. field trips).

In memory of Paul Rodriguez
As a former President of the Red Rock Audubon chapter, Paul was the co-visionary behind Red Rock Audubon’s verified climate action program. He was driven by a passion to help the chapter and its members be the best environmental stewards they could be.
Paul believed that the climate impact of an Audubon’s chapter activities could not be balanced, or “offset” simply by local conservation efforts. It was this belief that put him on the journey to meet us, get to know us and ultimately partner with us. We miss him, and we are honored to keep this impactful program going in his memory.
